Custom Microsites

November 26, 2008

So the question in this post is a little tricky. What do a beverage company, a wheel and tire specialist, and a condominium development company have in common? Well, not a whole lot other than their desires to create brand awareness.

Every business has the hard task of creating a brand and making people aware of it – especially on a tight budget when starting out. When it comes to creating that online presence, each of these sites is utilizing the same strategy – and it works!

Microsites are much smaller and much more focused than the standard website. They are most often used to help market a specific product or service – such as a new development property or beverage. Since the site is more focused on a single product or service, it allows the user to become completely surrounded and immersed in specific details.

However, Microsites can be used for general companies as well instead of a single product. The sole purpose of Microsites is to create a digital face for people to interact with. A Microsite doesn’t have elaborate databases or an in-depth portfolio for people to browse. Instead, they offer all the vital information someone may want to know if they have never heard of you before. Fentimans, Canadian Image Customs, and Renascence Development Corporation all display the same information in their sites but in very different and unique ways. At each of their sites you can find out who they are and what the do, see some imagery about products or services they offer, and most importantly, find useful contact information.

Consider a Microsite like your full-time sales or marketing representative. They never stop working to sleep or take a break and they are available for anyone with internet access. Once a person hears about your company or site, they can go check it out and contact you to find out more.
